Happy New Years!

Happy New Year!!!

Let's talk about resolutions. I always make some, though I hardly ever follow through with them. This year, though, my resolution is far more realistic. My new year’s resolution is to get back into reading. It has become harder and harder the older I get because adulting takes away so much time. Between work, home-life, and everything between, I haven’t had much time to focus on reading, let alone my own writing. I’ve been told so many times by so many different sources that the best way to better your own writing is to read. So…here’s what we’re going to do. Every month, I am going to go through two books. One is going to be a book from my childhood. I’ve recently re-read a series and realized that it isn’t as great as I remember. I want to see if it’s simply nostalgia that’s keeping my love for these books, or if they stand the test of time. The other is going to be a book I have not read. It’s either going to be something from my shelf or one recommended to me. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. I'd like to experience new stories.

Now, the first book I’m looking into is Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. Growing up, this was my favorite book. That’s a thought that’s been forever present since I was in sixth grade. Still, as an adult, I still consider it an extremely good series that every middle schooler should invest in. I haven’t, however, re-read this series as an adult.

If ya’ll aren’t familiar with the series, it focuses on Greek Mythology in current times. A lightning rod is stolen, and chaos ensues. A child of the big three (Zues, Hades, and Poseiden) is tasked with retrieving it with two others.

It’s a great book, ya’ll. If I’m remembering correctly.

Check back every Friday for a book review/ breakdown
